Camera Angles
For video depositions, camera angles can have a positive or negative impact on how a jury/judge will perceive the witness. Most state and federal code sections regarding video depositions require the videographer to record in a “neutral” manner. The video camera should be close to eye-level with the witness. This is a neutral shot. If the camera is higher than the witness (high angle shot), this will leave the impression to the jury that the witness is small or weak. If the camera is lower than eye level than the witness (low angle shot), this will leave the impression to the jury that the witness is powerful or presidential.
