MPEG-2 Video

Mpeg-2 video compression was originally used in DVD video discs.  It is a lossy video and audio compression format that allows approximately two hours of video on a standard DVD disc.  DVD discs can be formatted as either a file storage medium or as a DVD video disc.  A DVD video disc incorporates the Mpeg-2 video file into a .VOB wrapper.  For trial presentation software use, DVD video discs will need to have the .VOB files re-encoded to Mpeg-1 for use in synchronized video depositions.  Mpeg-2 can still cause problems in some trial presentation software suites if the proper codecs are not utilized when converting the video files.
